Microscope access procedure

1. CONSULTATION

The first step is a in-person consultation to determine the most appropriate microscope for your needs and to discuss experimental strategies and sample preparation considerations.

2. TRAINING

When your sample is ready, you will receive hands on training at the microscope with a member of the facility.  Depending on the microscope, this may entail multiple sessions.

3. TEST RUN

After training, you will have a “test run” where someone will be available to assist you should you need help.

4. INDEPENDENCE

After completing your independent session, you have 24/7 access and are free to use the microscope whenever you please (though some time restrictions do apply)

Access Policy

Access to our microscopes varies by microscope.  The Lattice Light Sheet and OMX are available to members of labs whose primary investigator has a faculty appointment in one of the on-quad basic research departments at HMS (listed as “Basic and Social Science Departments on the Quad” here).  The DeltaVision and SP5 are restricted to members of the Cell Biology Department.
