The microscope is actually run by a different computer from the one you use to control it. It’s called the instrument controller, here is how to restart and initialize it:
- Open the “instrument controller” remote-desktop link on the workstation desktop.
- REMOVE SAMPLE and DROP OBJECTIVE (this is critical as initialization will home the stage, damaging any objectives in the path)
- Close the instrument controller window that is open in the new remote-desktop window that pops up.
- Double click the “instrument controller” icon on the left side of the remote-desktop… (can’t remember the full name of the file… it’s the only one that says instrument controller).
- The window will walk you through the steps. You will need to hit F1, and then confirm that no objectives are in the light path before hitting “Y”
- After initialization, you can close the remote-desktop window… (but don’t close the instrument controller window itself or you will stop the microscope).
